….Not only is India’s coal expansion on the rise, so are efforts to acquire additional land (both forest and non-forest) for linked thermal power plants, road, rail infrastructure and the range of ancillary activities that go along with establishing a coal mine. Juxtaposed with this expansion are living realities of people who have historically been dependent on forests and lands that are either officially recognised forest land or where there are tenurial contestations…..
